CentralStar Cooperative hires 2025 summer interns

WAUPUN, Wis., Jan. 20, 2025 – CentralStar Cooperative, serving dairy and beef producers in the upper Midwest, is welcoming eight individuals to its summer 2025 internship program. This year’s ensemble of interns consists of talented students eager to contribute their skills and gain hands-on experience across various business units.

“Selected from a large and highly competitive pool of applicants, these eight interns bring diverse perspectives and a passion for agriculture, innovation, and service,” said CentralStar Hiring and Training Manager Trevor Yager. “Depending on each role, they will develop useful animal-agriculture hands-on skills, participate in impactful projects, collaborate with seasoned cooperative team members, and take part in tailored opportunities designed to enhance their personal growth.”

Five students will join the genetics and artificial-insemination (A.I.) team as A.I. specialist interns. Lailah Bias, Fort Worth, Texas, is a junior at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan., studying animal science with a focus in pre-veterinary medicine. Elena Jarvey, Suamico, Wis., is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, River Falls, Wis., majoring in animal science with a minor in Spanish.

As a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wis., majoring in dairy science, Kelsey Hardy hails from Dodgeville, Wis. Also a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brooklyn Schwoerer was raised on a dairy farm in Edgar, Wis. The final A.I. Specialist Intern is Tyler Zelinko, St. Charles, Mich. He’s a junior at Michigan State University, Lansing, Mich., studying animal science.

CentralStar’s Kaukauna, Wis., laboratory will be welcoming Ava Jarvais, this summer, as their laboratory intern. She’s from Bear Creek, Wis., and is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls majoring in dairy science with a minor in sustainable agriculture and crop science.

Interning with the CentralStar Grand Ledge, Mich., laboratory team is Morgan Childers from Ortonville, Mich. She’s a sophomore at Michigan State University studying animal science with a concentration in the dairy industry.

Finally, the research and development team at CentralStar identifies and explores opportunities to improve the health and productivity of dairy cattle. Samuel Snowden from Rockford, Mich., will be interning with CentralStar’s research and development business unit. He’s a junior at Michigan State University studying genomics and molecular genetics/microbiology.

The CentralStar internship program offers participants a unique blend of real-world experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Interns will also engage in workshops and activities designed to enrich their understanding of the animal-agriculture industry.
