Location: based from home office in Wisconsin with regular travel across Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana.

Your purpose:

This position leads the CowManager business unit, overseeing all aspects of pre-sales, sales, customer support, market development, and training. The role supports CentralStar’s artificial insemination (A.I.) and herd-management products and services, aligning with the cooperative’s long-range goals. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual collaborates closely with customers, CentralStar CowManager Specialists, field staff, CentralStar leadership, CowManager personnel, external vendors, and other key partners to drive results and ensure success.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Manage, implement, and promote strategy for sales of all CowManager products and services to farm customers and prospects, futuristically integrating these technologies;
  • Work closely with management and marketing personnel to assist in the coordination and implementation of an effective and progressive CowManager-marketing program to all CentralStar team members, customers, and prospects, while also integrating other services offered by CentralStar;
  • Be a main point of contact and relationship holder between CentralStar Cooperative and CowManager key personnel, to ensure continued success and collaboration;
  • Manage/supervise CentralStar CowManager Specialists in collaboration with other leadership;
  • Identify training needs for CentralStar CowManager Specialists, and coordinate development of appropriate training opportunities to meet those needs;
  • Conduct one-on-one rides alongs with field personnel to provide additional product training and cultivate potential prospects and customers;
  • Effectively accomplish all duties associated with sales and support needs for specific key customers;
  • Co-manage integral accounts with other senior staff members;
  • Develop relationships with dairy-equipment companies to install specific equipment such as sort gates, etc.;
  • Be the primary resource for team members with a variety of product questions;
  • Attend and participate in cooperative activities, events, and functions relating to internal and customer-facing needs;
  • Prepare, create, and review content for presentations, articles, and more;
  • Work with finance teams, as needed, for budgets, incentives, payroll, and other programs; and
  • Consistently demonstrate a thorough knowledge of, and support for organizational mission and vision statements, the culture initiative, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in dairy/animal science, agribusiness, or a related area is required;
  • Proven success in agribusiness sales and five or more years of experience is required;
  • In depth knowledge of the dairy/beef industry is required;
  • Ability to develop and maintain key vendor relationships;
  • Extensive knowledge of standard practices in the areas of livestock reproduction, herd health, and youngstock rearing;
  • Robust computer knowledge, as well as strong technical skills with hardware and software;
  • Mechanical abilities to install and adapt to on-farm scenarios;
  • Must have the ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, and to lift and carry objects up to 120 pounds;
  • Regular day and overnight travel across Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana is expected for this role;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Exceptional speaking and discussion skills, including content preparation, dynamic delivery efforts, and the ability to interact with a small audience and answer questions;
  • Positive work ethic with a service-orientated attitude;
  • Demonstrates strong self-motivation and organization, with a high level of accountability in both independent and team settings;
  • Expected to handle confidential information with discretion;
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies;
  • Committed to self-continuing education and staying current on industry trends;
  • Strong computer skills required, such as experience with Microsoft office programs (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word); and a
  • Valid driver’s license.
