Hours: Full time
Reports to: Director of A.I.
Location: Work from home in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Indiana; travel, when needed, within the same three states, as well as some in Iowa and Illinois.
Deadline: Jan. 5, 2025

Your purpose:

This position is responsible for sales, support, oversight, and training to team members and customers for all animal-health products carried by the cooperative in support of our artificial insemination (A.I.) and Dairy Herd Information (DHI) services, and in accordance with the long-range objectives of the cooperative. Under the general direction of the Director of A.I., this person works closely with management, field personnel, and other parties to achieve desired outcomes.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Manages, implements, and promotes strategy for sales of all animal-health products to customers and prospects;
  • Assists in the coordination and implementation of an effective and progressive animal-health-product marketing program to all CentralStar team members, customers, and prospects;
  • Monitors and controls inventory, including making purchases for the cooperative in related areas;
  • Creates and monitors product pricing and structure;
  • Oversees relationships with all key product vendors to ensure long-term success;
  • Is the primary resource for team members with a variety of product questions;
  • Attends and participates in cooperative activities, events, and functions relating to internal and customer-facing needs;
  • Conducts one-on-one rides alongs with field personnel to provide additional product training;
  • Prepares, creates, and reviews content for presentations, articles, and more;
  • Pursues and maintains relationships with feed mills and nutrition companies;
  • Works with finance teams, as needed, for incentives, spiffs, and other programs;
  • Actively maintains a timely and efficient distribution model for animal-health products, semen, and nitrogen for cooperative team members; and
  • Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of, and support for organizational mission and vision statements, the culture initiative, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in dairy/animal science, agribusiness, or a related area is preferred.
  • Proven success in sales (preferably agribusiness) and five or more years of experience is required.
  • A combination of successful experience and education will be considered.
  • Knowledge of the dairy industry is required.
  • This person must have the ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, and to lift and carry objects up to 120 pounds.
  • Experience with reproduction and genetic programs in dairy and beef markets preferred.
  • Additional qualifications include excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Exceptional speaking and discussion skills, including content preparation, dynamic delivery efforts, and the ability to interact with a small audience and answer questions;
  • Positive work ethic with a service-orientated attitude;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team structure;
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies;
  • Committed to self-continuing education and staying current on industry trends;
  • Strong computer skills required, such as experience with Microsoft office programs (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word); and a
  • Valid driver’s license.
