Under the general direction of the CentralStar Director of DHI Services and SSMC Area Business Director, the Regional A.I. and DHI Manager oversees the effective management and selling of Dairy Herd Information (DHI) testing, dairy- and beef-cattle genetics, herd-management products, and various services, including artificial-insemination (A.I.)-sales-and-service operations within the designated region. This multifaceted role provides leadership in both sales and farm-data management, focusing on planning, promoting, and coordinating programs to achieve balanced goals that support the cooperative’s mission and vision. The manager leads a high-performing team, drives sales strategies, builds strong customer relationships, and ensures exceptional service delivery to support growth and expand market share.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and direction to DHI field staff, Account Managers, Area Sales Managers, A.I. Technicians, Genetic Advisors, and Distributors.
  • Maintain regular communication with business managers and field staff, providing coaching, goal setting, constructive feedback, and leadership modeling to strengthen team effectiveness, professional growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and facilitate team meetings -- including training, education, team building, and mandatory sessions -- to support professional development and ensure eligibility for CentralStar Team-Member Success Share.
  • Work closely with business-unit teams, including A.I., DHI, laboratory, and support staff, to build strong interdepartmental relationships, as well as with partner organizations such as DRMS to support record processing.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with company objectives and genetic-product availability.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Assess hiring needs, conduct interviews, and make employment selections in alignment with cooperative guidelines, budget, and business requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and members, addressing concerns promptly through various communication channels.
  • Ensure herds are fully staffed for cattle breeding and/or testing; this includes the occasional need for this role to directly provide these services, but only when necessary.
  • Prepare annual budgets, track expenditures, review financial statements, and establish revenue goals.
  • Manage expenses and oversee billing processes, ensuring compliance with commission programs and established financial structures.
  • Monitor and analyze sales and performance metrics, providing detailed reports to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations; maintain accurate records of sales and activities; and prepare regular reports, including documentation required for National DHIA and quality control system (QCS) audits.
  • Implement and support technological advancements for use by field and sales staff, evaluating effectiveness and benefits for dairy producers and the cooperative.
  • Provide high-level support for on-farm-software systems such as DART, DairyComp 305, BoviSync, and others.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve producer concerns within the business units, using the most appropriate communication method for each situation.
  • Represent the cooperative at industry events and functions, recruiting and initiating business opportunities in line with the company mission and vision.
  • Submit sales, invoicing, travel, and expense reports accurately and timely.
  • Work with human resources regarding disciplinary actions and documentation, when necessary.
  • Expand personal and team knowledge through education, industry events, and seminars.
  • Model a high level of integrity, professionalism, and adherence to team culture and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, agri-business, animal science, agricultural sciences, or a related field preferred; associate’s degree and/or equivalent experience considered
  • Five or more years of managerial, sales, or consultancy experience in dairy or reproductive management preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the dairy industry, herd management, consulting, and analysis
  • Demonstrated leadership with effective team-building, coaching, mentoring, and problem-solving skills

Day-to-day responsibilities:

As a Team Leader, you’ll be a senior member of the field-leadership team, overseeing daily cooperation of roughly 40 Artificial Insemination (A.I.) Specialist, DHI Specialist, sales, and consulting team members. Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Work in cooperation with business-unit managers and other management personnel;

Your purpose:

As the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Information Technology (IT) Administrator, you’ll manage and optimize our ERP system to support critical business operations across our multi-state agricultural cooperative. Responsibilities include system configuration, customization, integration, user support, and ongoing maintenance to ensure smooth and efficient performance. The role may also provide occasional support for the cooperative’s computer networks and related improvement efforts. You’ll collaborate with database associates, directors, and business-unit managers to identify hardware, software, and data needs, as well as coordinate training, installation, and support. Ideal candidates bring strong technical expertise in ERP platforms (Acumatica preferred), Structured Query Language (SQL) database management, and business process workflows, as well as proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Relevant certifications and a proactive approach to improving systems and processes are highly valued.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize the Acumatica ERP system, including configuration, troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Maintain proficiency in the Acumatica framework, report designer, and query language, with working knowledge of key modules such as financial management, distribution management, customer management, and service management.
  • Oversee database management using Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and Microsoft SQL relational databases; ensure adherence to data-management best practices and SQL Server performance standards.

DHI Specialist

Vast information impacting herd productivity, cattle health, animal welfare, sustainability, and profitability can conveniently and accurately be revealed with just a few ounces of milk. As a DHI Specialist, a major part of this career opportunity will be to advise customers on testing services to support an efficient, healthy, and profitable cow herd. DHI Specialists collect milk samples, process paperwork, and assist dairy farmers with data analysis and decision-making to benefit the future of their operations.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Transport DHI-testing equipment and racks with vials to farm;
  • Set up and plug in testing meters;
  • Computer work editing cows sold, calved, dried up, etc.;
  • Visit and enjoy good conversation;
  • Accurately collect milk samples and coordinating cow identification;
  • Properly identify vials that need diagnostic testing (i.e. milk-pregnancy test, A1/A2, etc.)
  • Wash DHI-testing equipment;
  • Computer work to check for errors, ensure accuracy, and transfer data to laboratory;
  • Invoice customer using company program;
  • Organize shipping or delivery (depending on location) of vials to laboratory for component and diagnostic testing;
  • Schedule future DHI milk-testing days; and
  • Once lab work is complete, assist customer in analyzing test-day data and reports to help with herd management.
  • DHI Specialists also spend time with our A.I./genetics business unit working together to prospect and grow business.

Qualifications:

  • Animal-agricultural background;
  • High-school diploma or equivalent;
  • Enjoy the beauty and fresh atmosphere of early mornings;
  • Be teachable and willing to learn;
  • Outstanding people skills, with service-oriented attitude;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate all DHI equipment and supplies according to procedural standards;
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, and carry objects up to 50 pounds;
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to work on your own, as well as with a team; and
  • Fundamental computer skills with the ability to learn associated software programs.
  • Knowledge of DART, DairyComp305, and/or BoviSync is preferred, but not required. We will train.
