Description
Stress is one of the most significant challenges impacting dairy and beef cattle performance. Whether cattle are being weaned, transported, vaccinated, bred, dehorned, commingled, dried off, or transitioning into new environments, stress can negatively affect health, feed intake, growth, reproduction, and overall productivity.
FerAppease was developed to help cattle respond more effectively to these unavoidable management and physiological stressors. The active ingredient is a synthetic analogue of Maternal Bovine Appeasing Substance (mBAS), a naturally occurring compound secreted by the skin of the mammary gland that creates an appeasing effect in cattle. When FerAppease is applied topically, the mBAS analogue is assimilated through the vomeronasal organ, helping decrease threat perception and the resulting stress response.
Research has demonstrated benefits in both dairy and beef cattle. Dairy studies have shown improvements in pregnancy rates, reductions in metritis and morbidity, and improved fresh cow performance. Beef research has demonstrated improvements in weight gain and carcass value when cattle are managed through stressful production events.
FerAppease can be used throughout the production cycle to help cattle maintain performance when exposed to stressors that commonly impact profitability.
